  • The Slow Swing Drill

In a baseball play, you should maintain the proper stance, and at the same time, you should keep your eyes on the ball. This drill teaches you to break the swing into different parts after carefully noticing the ball.

The batter prepares for the ball coming. Then he steps forward (Toward pitching mound) with stepping the front foot as the style we use to step forward. At the time the batted keep the bat position unchanged. Then he focuses on the ball and completes the motion. You should concentrate on the matter that you must swing the bat while keeping your eyes on the ball. Don’t take it as a serious drill. Just try it normally, you will feel its importance if you achieve it completely.

  • Home Run Derby

For a homerun, you have to hit the ball effectively so that the fielders can’t reach the ball to the catcher before you reach to the home plate. For this drill, you should have the place where you can practice the drill. In the beginning, you can practice with a large ball so that you can hit the ball every time. Then continue practice with the small ball. You should encourage your kids to make the homerun and make them feel good.

  • Knock Down

Throwing is always important to tag out a player from the base. This drill helps to improve throwing at the same time it improves arm strength.

For this drill, you have to arrange three batting tees and balls. If you are a beginner baseball player, it’s better to start with a comparatively large ball. If skill starts to grow, then use a small ball. All the players also should have a glove. Now, place the tees 10 feet apart from each other and the player should maintain at least 20 feet from each tee.

Now, place the ball on every tee and try to hit off the ball from the tee. You should not practice these drills alone; rather, you should practice with at least 2-3 friends. Everybody will have an equal turn and count who can hit the ball most time.

  • The Moving Tee Ball

This drill is very straightforward and very effective to improve the batter to increase the contact rate with the ball. This drill is very effective, especially for 6, 7, and 8 years old kids as they can grow the skill from practising this drill. Place the tee in different places placing the ball on top and tell the batter to hit the ball. You should concentrate on the ball position and depending on the position; you maintain your stance. Just keep practising this drill until the time you can contact the ball easily. Skill definitely grows.

  • Target Bunting

You have to collect three hula hoops for this drill. It will be good if you can collect different colour hoops. Then the coach places the hoops in different positions, in the first baseline, in the third baseline and directly in front of the home plate. The batter goes to the home plate and the coach through the ball from the mound with calling specific hoop. The batter hit the ball as it will go to the designated hoop. This drill helps the batter in developing bunting control.

  • 500

Outfielders should catch the ball which comes in front of them and also the balls which drop the ground behind them. Keep 10-15 yards distance from your coach always in an open space. Then your coach through the ball in front of the player and the player charges in the ball and make it shoestring catch. After that, throw it deep to turn the shoulders and run back or the catch.

  • Calling Positions Drill

Place the players in fielding positions. Don’t need to set up in the pitching and catching position. After positioning all players, stand on home plate at the same time, you need to have many balls in the place. Now through the ball to a player but don’t call the player’s name. Just call the name of the position. The player standing on the position collect the ball, deliver and return back to the position again. Practice this drill with all players. Try the players in a different position for a good result.

  • Transfer Step Drill

To practice this drill, you only need the place where you can practice, and you need a pitcher and a net. If you don’t have any net, you may use a catcher. This drill is perfect for the pitcher and helps to improver transfer step and pivot step.

The pitcher gets back the transfer step at first. Then the pitcher lifts his front foot and places the footparallelly (Transfer step) or laterally directed toe (Pivot step) the foot putting down the back. For this drill, the ball is thrown at all. The drill only focuses on the footwork and develops muscle memory for the pivot step and transfer step.

  • The Catch Drill

Somebody tell it is not like a drill, but we say, catching and throwing is one of the most important parts of a baseball game. Remember again, they are kids and judge the distance of a throw.
